A Swiftair ATR Turboprop, covering for Air Europa on the Madrid to Vigo route, had to make an emergency landing on Monday afternoon at Barajas airport, minutes after takeoff.

The aircraft, carrying 68 passengers, left the Madrid airport at 17:58 hours on Monday. Eleven minutes later, the pilot detected a problem with one of the engines and decided to return to Barajas.

Having declared the situation to air traffic control, the emergency protocol was adopted, band the plane landed without incident. Passengers were able to leave the plane on foot and were relocated to a similar plane, from the same company, that took off from Madrid at 20:45.
