SHANI FUNDRAISER IN SUPPORT OF THE PHILLIPINES
We have all seen the scenes of the terrible effects of Hurricane Yolanda or Typhoon Haiyan by another name. Maybe you have even done something about it, donating something.
One of those who is sensitive to the tragedy and loss of the Phillipine people is Shani Ormiston who immediately put her talents to work by organizing a fund raising concert in Torrevieja Hospital’s meeting hall which will be held on Thursday 19th December at 6pm all welcome.
Shani is a well established singer on the Costa Blanca, but thanks to Internet is also well known in other countries, so much so that she was the invited guest in a composer/singer competition in Italy last year to represent Spain as she is also a composer. This little lady packs a powerful voice that copes with a very wide range of music genres, be it ballad, pop, country, blues even rock. But Shani’s forte, and what sets her apart, is being able to compose songs and among her released albums are two of her own songs. One is a mixture of English and Spanish songs called “Asi soy yo” (Here I Am) in 2009 featuring twelve of her compositions.
This past year she presented her latest work “Once Upon a Time” with a fantastic live show backed by dancers, acrobats, the Jaime Helios Band and a classical string quartet. This latest album is an all-English CD, with each song part of a story about life in general with its ups and downs, touching on falling in and falling out of love, solidarity, illness, divorce etc. Several tracks have been acclaimed, winning prizes and nominations in prestigious international singer/composer events. These two albums are available on iTunes, CD Baby, some can be heard on YouTube or via her excellent webpage www.shaniormiston.com
