The Provincial Fire Consortium of Alicante has increased the quota of fire fighters in each of the seven fire stations in the province, due to the increased risk of forest fires during the long and dry summer period.
An additional 14 new fire fighters will be spread across the area, 2 in each station, operating around the clock to boost the availability until the 15th of September. The service has already been on high alert since Easter, when the air support network was also increased.
Out of the total of 650 staff and 145 vehicles, there are a minimum of 100 fire fighters on duty at any one time, able to transfer to any area as needed across the near 6,000 square metre operative areas of the Marina Alta, Marina Baja, Montaña, L´Alacantí, Vinalopó, Bajo Vinalopó and Vega Baja.
