Key Copier Arrested

Officers from the fiscal analysis and investigation branch of the Guardia Civil have arrested a 46 year old man in San Javier on suspicion of a crime of intellectual property, after 14,000 components for car key controls were seized by the officers.

The equipment seized could have allowed access and the theft of tens of thousands of vehicles and were distributed as counterfeited keys and control fobs via the internet from a business located in San Javier.

The investigators, who are based in Alicante-Elche airport, discovered the information as part of an investigation which began in February, and have now made the arrest of the man who has been brought before the courts of Elche.
