Robberies across Alicante Province have fallen by more than 16 percent during the first half of the year, according to Valencian government delegate, Juan Carlos Moragues, who was at an event last Sunday in Alicante to celebrate the feast day of the patron saint of the Guardia Civil, La Virgen del Pilar. Moragues said that home burglaries had dropped by 12 percent in the first six months of 2015, with a record crime low of 48.3 incidents reported per one thousand of the population. The minister quoted various figures from some of the local municipalities with robberies down by nearly 21 percent in Orihuela, whilst there was a more modest fall of nine point two percent in Elche.
