The Mayor of Albox, in Andalucía, Rogelio Mena of the PSOE, has signed a decree ordering the arrest and detention of those responsible for trying to cut the electricity supply to a municipal building, as a result of a 130,000 euro debt. The mayor claims that the act “endangers public safety”, as the emergency services have equipment in the buildings, such as radio transmitters, as well as equipment used for the general policing and well being of the citizens of his town. Meanwhile, Endesa, the company responsible for supplying the power, said that they “never” cut power for “essential services” related to health or safety, and has shown its willingness to negotiate to solve the problem.

The man, a farmer and resident of La Peza, was married with two children, and went missing from his home on Tuesday night. It is thought he had attempted to drive across the river flow on a rural road, in order to get back to his home, but his vehicle was overpowered by the flow.
