14/05/2013. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a month-on-month increase of 0.4% in April, which compares with a significantly higher increase (1.4%) a year ago. According to the data published on Tuesday by the Spanish National Statistics Institute (Spanish acronym: INE), the year-on-year rate has thus fallen by one percentage point to 1.4%. This strong moderation in the year-on-year rate of inflation can be explained by the performance of energy prices and, to a lesser extent, the price of prepared food products and services.
