Two children, aged six, have been injured in the Murcia town of Guadalupe after falling from a bouncy castle as a result of a gust of wind. The children were taken to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital, one of them in a serious condition, the other less so.
Several children were blown off the inflatable, but the two six year olds were the worst injured. The scene was attended by the police and ambulance service.
Severe flooding was reported in many of the western and central areas of the peninsular, with Extremadura seeing winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour at times.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the wind played havoc with Christmas decorations in Madrid, with two large decorative trees being blown over in busy public spaces. Luckily there were no injuries reported but checks were carried out on other such installations, a third tree being dismantled as a precaution.
Wind and rain affected the capital since midnight with emergency services attending 44 weather related incidents.
Many areas remain on alert for wind and storms although forecasters say it should start to ease on Sunday.
