A French couple on holiday in Torrevieja have filed a complaint with the Guardia Civil over an alleged assault by two security guards in a commercial centre.
The alleged incident happened when a security alarm sounded as the couple and their two children were leaving the store, after they had paid for the goods they were taking, and they were taken into a room in the centre.
One of the children videoed the scene in which it appears that a security guard with the name “CASESA” on his back is seen to be punching a female detainee around her torso several times. The woman appears to be resisting detention.
The incident will no doubt ignite the discussions once more as the national government aim to give private security guards more powers of detention and search, taking the sole responsibility away from the police.
