A 39-year-old naked man, who threatened to throw his nine-year-old son off a Crevillente apartment balcony, after a row with his wife, was arrested in the early hours of last Friday morning.
Neighbours were awakened by shouting on Calle Virgen del Pilar at around 3.00 am, with local police and Guardia Civil officers arriving to hear the man yelling: “God will give you back!”, as he held the boy over the balcony.
His partner let officers into the flat, and they talked him out of doing anything drastic, as a policeman took the boy. The man then started biting, punching and kicking at the Guardia agents as they carted him off, with a doctor injecting him with a sedative.
Two officers needed medical attention after the incident, with the assailant admitted to the psychiatric unit of Elche’s Vinalopó hospital, ahead of facing an array of charges.
