Having just reached 50 years of age, Club 18-30 will no ease trading as a travel brand with its last departure being from Manchester on October 27 to Magaluf.
With its first tour in 1968, Club 18-30 quickly became known as a brand of escapism, for those who wanted to throw away the shackles of parental control and live as free individuals for the first time abroad, on a holiday which became synonymous with booze and sex, even if that was the opinion created by those who had never perhaps experienced a Club 18-30 tour themselves, it quickly became a draw for those who wanted to experience such a full package deal.
The brand was originally created by the Horizon Group, and is now to be retired by Thomas Cook, thus ending an era of notoriety, if not from the holidays themselves, but certainly from the advertising campaigns, with the infamous taglines such as “Beaver Espana” being retired along with the concept, now to be nothing more than museum pieces, as trends now perhaps lean towards “classier” holidays and destinations, with less overall control and drive by the holiday firm, albeit also with less liability on their part, with individuals now responsible for their own activities, and having to pay the price if they are unable to conduct or control themselves n their guest countries
