Officers from the Guardia Civil and the National Police have dismantled one of the main hashish trafficking organisations that operated in the Campo de Gibraltar.

The investigation has ended with 21 people arrested and 16 house searches in Algeciras (Cádiz), Los Barrios (Cádiz) and Estepona (Málaga). Likewise, 4 stolen vehicles, 40,000 packs of smuggled tobacco, 1,000 litres of gasoline, a drone with a thermal camera and more than 18,000 euro have been recovered.

The organisation brought large quantities of hashish to Spain, coming from Morocco, through “narcolanchas”; Later they transported it in high-end vehicles to safe places or “nurseries” to finally distribute it throughout the national territory to other European countries.

The police investigation began last September when the investigators learned of the existence of an important criminal organisation allegedly dedicated to the introduction of large quantities of hashish from Morocco to the Spanish coasts through “narcolanchas”.

Once in Spain, they transported the drug in high-end vehicles – previously stolen by the organisation – from the coast to safe places, known as “nurseries”, to later distribute it throughout the rest of the national territory to other European countries.

The investigators found that at the head of this organisation was an old acquaintance of the State Security Forces and Corps, nicknamed “el Nimo”. Specifically, it was the lieutenant of a drug trafficker fled from Justice and known as “Messi.” Finally, the agents have arrested him and his closest collaborators; They are charged with the introduction of large amounts of hashish intervened in recent months.

In addition, during the weeks leading up to the exploitation phase of the operation, agents detained 17 members of the organisation and intervened more than 6 tons of hashish. Likewise, they recovered 9 stolen vehicles that, presumably, were used to transport drugs, as well as 8,500 packs of tobacco and 700 litres of gasoline that were used to supply the “narcolanchas”.
