Spain has performed more than 37.7 million diagnostic tests since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Specifically, the autonomous communities have notified the Ministry of Health that, until April 8, they have carried out a total of 37,755,947 diagnostic tests. Of these, 28,506,257 are PCR and 9,249,690 are antigen tests.
In the last week, from April 2 to 8, the autonomous communities have carried out a total of 452,955 PCR, an average of 64,707 PCR per day.
In addition, from April 2 to 8, the autonomous communities have carried out a total of 251,187 antigen tests (35,883 on average per day). Added to the PCR performed, they represent a total of 704,142 diagnostic tests performed in this period, 100,591 per day. Thus, the number of diagnostic tests performed increased by 2%, with a rate of 801.61 per 1,000 inhabitants.
Progressively, new techniques are being developed for the diagnosis of SARS-Cov2 infection, such as the rapid antigen tests that the Health Departments are beginning to introduce in the management of the pandemic.
