The Spanish Government welcomes the possibility of exploring ways to facilitate mobility with third countries outside the EU in which the vaccination process is already well advanced, such as the United States and the United Kingdom, provided that with this it does not suppose a risk for the health of the Spaniards.
This was transmitted by the Secretary of State for the EU, Juan González Barba, at a press conference with the Minister for the EU and the Austrian Constitution, Karoline Edtstadler. “We see that there are third countries in which the vaccination campaign is advancing at a faster rate than the European one,” he said, citing the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel, among others.
“The Spanish Government supports the possibility of exploring any possibility of promoting mobility with third countries that does not entail an increase in the health risk for our citizens,” said González Barba, for whom the digital green certificate that is being prepared could help to change the “thresholds and conditions with third countries” to facilitate “more fluid mobility”.
