Red Days in Spain 2023
The Spanish employment ministry has published the list of national holidays for 2023 (the equivelent of Bank Holidays inthe UK), commonly known as Red Days, or the working calendar.
Red Days are national holidays, recognised throughout the country, to which we must also add the regional holidays, some of which we have also included in this list, and then there are also local holidays, celebrated in each municipality.
In the first place, there are the non-replaceable national holidays, that is, those that apply to all the autonomous communities, which cannot exercise the right to change for another date that is more appropriate to them by tradition. In the year 2023 there will be the following national holidays:
April 7 – Good Friday
May 1 – Labour Day
August 15 – Assumption of the Virgin
October 12 – National Holiday of Spain
November 1 – All Saints
December 6 – Spanish Constitution Day
December 8 – Immaculate Conception
December 25 – Christmas day
Secondly, these are the holidays that apply to the entire Spanish territory, but the different regions can change the dates for other holidays that are more typical of them by tradition.
In this way, the substitutable national holidays for 2023 are shown below, as well as the
January 2 – Monday following the New Year’s Eve: Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Castilla y León and Murcia.
January 6 – Epiphany of the Lord: Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarra, the Basque Country, La Rioja, Ceuta and Melilla.

July 25 – Santiago Apóstol: Castilla y León, Galicia, Navarra and the Basque Country.
