According to the latest predictions from the state meteorological association, Aemet, from today, Friday, weather conditions will be conducive to the formation of storms in central areas and especially in the east of the peninsula.
On Friday afternoon there could be storms in a large part of Castilla y León, especially in high areas. Storms are also expected around the Iberian and Central system, in large areas of Aragon and a large part of Castilla-La Mancha. Occasionally, these storms could be strong, and hail is not ruled out.
Late on Friday and especially in the early hours of Saturday the 22nd, the front will advance and drop rain in Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Extremadura and western Andalusia. The largest accumulated could occur in areas of Huelva and the north of Cáceres. The front would continue its advance towards the east through the Peninsula, reaching regions of the most eastern Cantabrian Sea and the central peninsular area at noon.
In the afternoon, the rainfall would reach Navarra, Aragon and the interior of Catalonia and the Valencian Community. In the Pyrenees they could be accompanied by storms again. It will be unlikely that the rains will reach the Mediterranean coast and as the front advances, the rains will gradually decrease in the west of the peninsula.
The last precipitations could occur at dawn on Sunday and in the early hours of the day in Catalonia and also in the Balearic Islands. In the rest of the country, the last day of the week would once again impose stability.
In general, if these storms and rains arrived, not many litres would be collected. However, the storms could be punctually more intense, leaving greater accumulations. The situation, however, will be short and fleeting, so it will not make the drought subside.
On Saturday, with the passage of the cold front, temperatures will drop. The drop will be more noticeable in the northwest, but it would be transitory in any case. From Sunday, with the return of stability, the thermometers would rise again.
