The multinational Stellantis automotive plant in Vigo stopped production last night, due to a lack of supplies.
As the company informed its staff, the suspension of activity will occur in System 1, where the Citroën C-Elysée and Peugeot 301 and 2008 models are manufactured. The stoppages will affect the night shift last night, Thursday, and the three activity shifts on Friday.
The automotive firm has been forced to paralyse its manufacturing on numerous occasions. The shortage of semiconductors has generated problems in the manufacture of some components, including vehicles, in which electronics is increasingly present.
In the middle of last year, the director of the Vigo plant indicated that the lack of microchips would continue during the 2023 financial year, although the impact on manufacturing would be less than in the previous financial year. So far this year, the Stellantis factory in Vigo has had to stop part of its work on several occasions.
