The National Court on Monday judges a man accused of “consuming and disseminating” videos of a jihadist nature with the aim of indoctrinating third parties, a process that would have taken place in the vicinity of a mosque in Melilla and for which the Prosecutor’s Office asks for five years in prison.
Hassan EO, a Moroccan national, is accused of a crime of passive indoctrination through possession of suitable documents to incite the incorporation into a terrorist organisation, for which he faces a request for that prison sentence to be replaced by the expulsion from the country for ten years.
The Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of having suffered during 2021 “a progressive radicalisation in postulates of a jihadist nature” to the point of “consuming and disseminating” videos of this nature.
A process that, according to his brief with provisional conclusions, would have taken place “in the vicinity of the Assalam mosque in Melilla”, where the accused was working as a muezzin (member who calls to prayer).
The public ministry maintains that the defendant had “regular contacts with individuals linked to jihadist terrorism” and that he disseminated material of a jihadist nature “knowingly and with the purpose that it was suitable for indoctrination and feeding an instrumentalised ideological fundamentalism to develop terrorist behaviours in the future”.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicates in its letter that he even edited videos with images of him imitating Daesh material and that he published some of “jihadist themes linked to martyrdom”, “reminiscent of a Daesh video” where the last moments of the death are narrated “prior to his immolation in an attack”.
The defendant was arrested in Malaga, where he moved at the end of 2021 and “tried to acquire a firearm or white weapon for military use.”
The agents found content linked to the jihad on his mobile and discovered that he participated in a WhatsApp group “made up of individuals of radical Salafi ideology and/or linked to jihadist terrorism.”
