The trial will begin today, Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., in the third section of the Provincial Court of Valencia, hearing evidence against a woman who assisted her 95-year-old terminally ill husband to die.
The Prosecutor’s Office requests five months in prison for a crime of aiding suicide, with the incomplete defence of mental alteration and the aggravating circumstance of kinship.
The defendant injected her husband, 95 years old and suffering from numerous chronic pathologies that caused him permanent suffering, with morphine.
The patient had drawn up, in accordance with current legislation, a document of advance directives in which he expressed his wish that, when the terminal moment of his illness arrived, he be administered sedation to end his life painlessly.
The events occurred in December 2020 when, according to the Prosecutor’s Office in its indictment, the defendant, according to the deceased, administered a high dose of morphine, which ended the life of her husband.
