The Torrevieja Hospital has welcomed a total of 17 residents, including Resident Internal Physicians (MIR) and Resident Internal Nurses (EIR), who have begun their specialised training.
In addition, the centre has held a symbolic farewell ceremony to thank the work of the professionals who have completed their residency, a total of seven new specialists who have had the opportunity to become part of the staff.
Seventeen new residents (MIR-EIR) will develop their specialised training in the Torrevieja Health Department. The University Hospital of Torrevieja, for yet another year, has filled its Resident (MIR-EIR) positions in the specialties of Internal Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Obstetric-Gynaecological Nursing, Ophthalmology and Family and Community Medicine, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Surgery General and Digestive System, Family and Community Nursing, Paediatrics and Nephrology.
The welcome ceremony, chaired by Dr. José Gabriel Cano, Manager of the department, also included the participation of Dr. Jesús Navas, president of the teaching committee, and Julia López, director of Nursing for the department.
During the event, this new class of MIR-EIR professionals received the transversal program that will undoubtedly add global hospital and primary care knowledge to their training, offering the possibility of attending and preparing multidisciplinary clinical sessions. In addition, professionals will be able to participate in clinical trials, research, congresses and obtain knowledge and experiences that will allow them to enrich their training in an innovative work environment in which quality care and close treatment of the patient prevail.
For the Management of the University Hospital of Torrevieja, it is very important to develop the MIR training, because it allows the constant reactivation of the professionals who are already part of the staff, encouraging them to update themselves with each new development related to the healthcare world and strengthening the formative ties between professionals and students.
Dr. Jesús Navas Ramírez, Head of the Dermatology Service and Head of Studies, together with the teaching tutors of each specialty, are in charge, within the framework of the Teaching Commission, of supervising the training of assigned residents trying to get them to acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required by their specific training plans after rotations through the various hospital services.
