The trials begin this week in the cases of three violent robberies that took place in Alboraya, Valencia and Vilamarxant. The Valencia regional courts will begin hearing evidence in all three cases.
The first of these trials will see the case against two men who apparently assaulted a married couple with the intention of stealing the 50,000 euro they knew they were carrying because they had just sold a property at a notary in Alboraya.
The events occurred on January 7, 2022, when the defendants approached the two victims and, after threatening them with a knife, asked them for the money. The defendants pounced on the victims and plunged a knife into the woman’s left thigh and gave her several electric shocks with a Taser pistol, as she was carrying the bag containing the money.
In the second, the Prosecutor’s Office requests ten years and eight months in prison for two crimes of robbery with violence, one of injuries and another of illegal possession of weapons for each of the two young people, aged 20 and 22, whom it accuses of assault four people with a knife and brass knuckles, with the intention of stealing their phone, wallet or jewellery.
There were several events that began around 3:30 a.m. on July 4, 2022, when the defendants approached two men of French nationality in a park near calle Sagunto in Valencia and asked for their phones and wallets.
As the victims refused, the knife was plunged into the leg of one of them. Shortly after, in the Plaza de la Virgen area, the two defendants assaulted a man and a woman, and took a chain and a telephone from them.
During this second robbery, one of the defendants put a knife on the woman’s neck to touch her breast, for which the Prosecutor’s Office asks for him, in addition to the previous sentences, five years in prison for a crime of sexual assault.
The third of the cases related to violent robberies is that of a man who stole a woman’s bag on March 29, 2021, in Vilamarxant (Valencia) and who faces a six-year sentence.
The events occurred around 2:00 p.m. when the victim was walking through one of the streets of the municipality. The woman suffered a cervical contusion, among other injuries, as a result of the events. The defendant took 170 euro and two credit cards, which he used shortly after at a Ribarroja kiosk.
