The Provincial Court of Ourense will hear evidence on Tuesday and Wednesday in the trial against a young man, accused of drug trafficking, who cut the throat of another man, with whom he had met to sell him hashish, after having an argument over the price of the substance.

Specifically, the victim and some friends were traveling by car from Vigo to Madrid on March 23, 2021 and, as they passed through Ourense, they tried to buy hashish from the defendant, whose phone number was provided to them by a young man they saw on the street smoking a joint, as stated in the accusation document.

The defendant and the group of people including the victim met in the vicinity of the former’s home to carry out the transaction. There, the Prosecutor’s Office points out, the defendant asked them for 70 euro for 10 grams of hashish, “which seemed expensive to the buyers.”

At one point, the accused confronted one of the youths and the victim intervened, grabbing him by the shoulder to push him away. At that moment, the dealer stuck a serrated knife that he was carrying into his neck.

As a result of the attack, the victim suffered a serious neck injury, with a section of the larynx, which forced a tracheotomy to be performed. In addition to emotional sequelae, he has been left with physical sequelae, including a “very visible” scar.

The Public Ministry considers the facts constituting a crime of attempted homicide, for which reason it requests seven years in prison for the accused. In addition, he requests another two years in prison for a crime against public health for drug trafficking.

In the compensation chapter, the Prosecutor’s Office requests 7,640 euro for the injured party for the days in which he remained affected, as well as 30,000 euro for the consequences.
