“Most Wanted” British fugitive arrested in Malaga
The Guardia Civil has arrested two people claimed by the authorities of their respective countries, both in the Malaga municipality of Estepona, in different operations carried out on the Costa del Sol in relation to the ongoing search for fugitives.
The first of them, FMR, 29, according to the British authorities, robbed a man with another accomplice to steal a Richard Mille brand watch, valued at more than 60,000 pounds. When he refused, the attackers stabbed him several times, causing extremely serious injuries that led to the victim being rushed to the hospital. The fugitive cut his hand during the attack, thus allowing his later identification by the Merseyside Police (United Kingdom).
This same person was also investigated in Spain for his relationship with a kidnapping that occurred in Mijas in 2022, where together with other perpetrators and after holding the victim against his will, they stole a Rolex brand watch, while at the same time they intended to collect a ransom for their release. The victim managed to flee by jumping from the balcony of the house.
“Most Wanted” and Crimestoppers
This person was included in both the Most Wanted project of the British National Crime Agency (NCA) and the non-profit, non-governmental organisation Crimestoppers, launched in 2006 to identify fugitives wanted by the British Police, mainly for crimes related to drug trafficking, murder, robbery, and arms trafficking in the United Kingdom and who are suspected of having fled to Spain.
The judicial authorities of the Netherlands
On the other hand, in another operation, the Guardia Civil has also arrested in Estepona (Málaga) the citizen of the Netherlands, CAB, claimed for crimes of fraud, money laundering and illegal possession of weapons.
As reported by the authorities of that country, CAB, in 2019 was part of a criminal organisation dedicated to scams through phishing, affecting dozens of victims in that country. In addition, during the house search that took place at his home in the Netherlands, several firearms were found.
Both investigations have been carried out by the Central Operative Unit of the Guardia Civil, specifically by the Fleeing from Justice Team, in collaboration with the NCA Liaison Office in Spain and the Dutch Politie respectively.
