The Council of Ministers has approved the royal decree that regulates the direct granting of subsidies worth 52 million euro to finance the increase of 700 places in the Degree in Medicine in public universities in the 2023-2024 academic year.
This subsidy is intended to facilitate the long-term increase in the availability of medical professionals as a partial measure against the shortage of health professionals in certain specialties, as well as to respond to the needs expressed in the supply-need studies of medical specialists published by the Ministry of Health.
On the other hand, the acting Executive has approved a subsidy of 22.5 million euro for actions on immigration matters. These are initiatives focused on the protection of Human Rights that include projects in the areas of the fight against racism, xenophobia and other forms of discrimination.
The Council of Ministers has also approved the 2023 Progress Report of the 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy, which includes all the progress made in Spain in terms of transformative policies and serves as a balance sheet of the Government’s action to achieve the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
Finally, the Council of Ministers has given the green light to the agreement with the Ministry of Culture creating the Royal Board of Trustees of the Royal Collections Gallery, the most outstanding museum policy project that has been carried out in recent years in Spain.
