The Alicante town of Rojales is preparing to host the 6th Rodeo Film Festival, a cultural event that promises to immerse attendees in the exciting world of cinema through a careful selection of short films. This year’s edition will take place from August 24 to 27, with the closing gala scheduled for Saturday, September 2, at the emblematic Replaceta del Teatro, located in the Cuevas del Rodeo.

The festival has reached a new milestone by receiving more than 400 short films, of which 28 have been selected, which will be screened during the days of the event. These short films cover various themes and genres, forming part of four different sections: the official section, the section dedicated to Gender Equality and LGTBI themes, the section focused on the environment and the section on short films from La Vega Baja.

Among the outstanding works of the program is the new short film by David Valero, filmed in the nearby town of La Murada. In addition, the Goya-winning director, Julio Pérez del Campo, presents Hijos de África, a work that promises to take viewers on an emotional journey about the problem of slave children in Benin. These works reflect the diversity and creativity that the Rodeo Film Festival will exhibit.

One of the novelties this year is the space dedicated to short filmmakers from Vega Baja. This initiative will allow local artists to showcase their creations and share their artistic vision with the public. The festival not only celebrates established talent, but also provides a springboard for emerging voices in the region.

The quality of the short films selected suggests that many of these works will have an international festival run. The Rodeo Film Festival has become a showcase for the most promising film productions.

The projections will take place from 9:30 p.m. in the Replaceta del Teatro, an idyllic setting in the Cuevas del Rodeo that will offer attendees a unique cinematographic experience. The closing gala, which will take place on September 2 at the same time and in the same place, will be the highlight of the festival, where the prizes will be awarded to the best short films in each section.

Likewise, on Saturday, August 27, the last day of projections in the official section, the festival will present the Honorary Award for Professional Career to film director Benito Rabal.

The 6th Rodeo Film Festival promises to be an unforgettable encounter between art, culture and cinema, consolidating itself as one of the most important events in the region. The population of Rojales and movie lovers are invited to enjoy this unique and enriching experience.
