Although we will have to wait until next week to see if the rains at the weekend made any difference to the reservoirs, to common belief is that the answer will be no, and that despite the considerable amount of precipitation in places, it will not have made a significant difference to the water levels in reservoirs.
In this week’s statistics, the Spanish hydraulic reserve stands at 37% of its total capacity (56,069 hm³), compared to 35% the previous year, so up slightly on last year, but down considerably compared to the 51.9% average for the last decade.
The reservoirs currently store 20,763 hm³ of water, decreasing in the last week by 319 hm³ (0.6% of the current total capacity of the reservoirs).
The average level of reserves on the Atlantic slope is 37.2%, where the situation in the Guadalete-Barbate basin stands out, with 16.8% and the Guadalquivir, with 19.3%. In the basins of the Mediterranean slope, this level is 36.6%, highlighting the Internal Basins of Catalonia, with 24.1%.
