Starting this Thursday in Valencia, the Court will begin to hear evidence in a case which sees a doctor who was on duty at a Health Care Point (PAS) accused of a crime of omission of the duty to provide assistance.

The jury must decide whether the doctor committed the alleged crime after “refusing to go to the home of a patient, who lived in front of the health centre, when she was asked to do so by one of the patient’s children”, the patient then died.

According to the information provided by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSCJV), the hearing will be held on the 26th, 27th and 30th of this month.

According to the information about the case that the Jury will decide, the events occurred in the early morning of September 22, 2019, at the PAS on calle Juan Llorens, in the city of Valencia, where one of the sons went to the centre looking for help for his mother in her home across the street from the centre.

The court will determine if, after being informed of the urgency of the situation, the accused, “who was not carrying out or had any medical activity pending or planned in the following hours, refused to assist the patient and leave the centre.”
