For the first time in its history, Valencia Airport reaches 9 million passengers in one year and thus puts the finishing touch to a year full of record months of travellers when the airport complex turns 90, opening to air traffic in 1933.
To celebrate, the director of the Airport, Antonio García Aparicio, received at the Valencian terminal the “9 millionth passenger” who arrived on a Ryanair Boeing 737-800 aircraft from Eindhoven, Netherlands.
After learning the news, the director gave her a bouquet of flowers, a commemorative poster and a gift consisting of a piece of artistic ceramics from Manises, the town which hosts the airport. For their part, the airline Ryanair has given a gift “travel voucher” to the lucky passenger.
The previous record of travellers took place in 2019, the year in which the arrival of the 8 millionth passenger was celebrated, on December 12, and which finally closed with a total of 8,539,579 registered travellers. After the impact of the health crisis, the recovery of air traffic at the Valencian airport has been progressive and last year 2022 a total of 8,114,821 was reached, just 5% of the record year.
Since January 2023, Valencia Airport has had a series of months with historic passenger numbers and August, with more than 1,072,418 passengers, was the best month recorded in the entire history of the airport.
