Man arrested with 60 hard drives of child porn

The Guardia Civil arrested a 62-year-old man in Cádiz for possession of child pornographic material in a large collection of computers and hard drives with a multitude of paedophile files stored.

This person had a local network in his home with a computer infrastructure of seven computers and 60 hard drives where he stored up to 40 terabytes of pornographic content of minors between 12 and 13 years of age.

Depending on the file type and size, a 1 terabyte hard drive can hold anywhere between 250,000 and 310,000 images.

A complaint filed with the Guardia Civil in Cádiz put the agents on alert, starting operation “Poremer.” A citizen claimed to have involuntarily discovered the existence of several files with possible child sexual content on the now detainee’s computer equipment.

The Guardia Civil began a quick investigation to identify the author of these events and the capacity of illicit content.

The agents searched the suspect’s home in the capital of Cadiz and found the existence of numerous computer materials. Up to seven computers formed a local network in the home, connected to several televisions and monitors in various rooms that allowed viewing everything that the computers reproduced from any room. On one of the computers, the author had more than 4,400 paedophile files with a capacity of one terabyte.

They also found 60 hard drives that accumulated 40 terabytes of material with explicit sexual images of minors between 12 and 13 years of age.

In their investigation, the agents verified that in addition to storing paedophile content, the author made audiovisual productions of a different nature that he then disseminated on a channel of a well-known social network.

After the seizure of the computer material, the agents focused on its dumping, analysis and study to determine the existence of victims involved, as well as the participation of minors in videos that could have been shared or distributed over the Internet.

The complex investigation has been carried out by specialists from the Computer and Technological Crimes Team of the Guardia Civil in Cádiz with the result of the arrest of this 62-year-old man for the crime of possession of pornographic material of minors. After he was brought to justice, he was ordered to be imprisoned.
