The UGT union called a demonstration in the city of Castellón for this evening, inviting as many people to participate as possible, to support their fight for a ceramics agreement that does not impoverish the workers in the sector and for a future with guarantees.
One of the biggest problems the sector has faced in recent years in the increase in the price of gas, and yet, despite this, according to the union, some companies have still maintained their workforce but at considerable detriment to their businesses, but others have closed down with the loss of thousands of jobs.
The union affirms that “companies that had long-standing economic problems have closed and the sector has concentrated, destroying more than 3,000 net jobs in the sector, and leaving entire families without work, with the multiplier effect on dependent companies and despite all this, there is no response from the employers in the negotiation of the Collective Agreement, the postulates of the CEOE in the Agreement for Employment and Collective Bargaining are not assumed and they refuse to respond to all the efforts of the colleagues and colleagues during this time”.
Furthermore, adds the UGT, “we must also face an energy transition process that must be based on social dialogue and commitment to employment. The latest aid, where the other union has accompanied the employers, has been granted to companies that have laid off and have made EREs, without any commitment to future employment or to maintaining industrial facilities in our country. We think that the way is to work with commitments to maintain employment, to maintain the industry in our country, where direct aid and “specific systems such as RED, work on a specific tile table, with all the administrations involved to guarantee Just Transition processes.”
