Personal image practitioners to protest in Madrid
Whilst tractors are threatening to surround Madrid in a “massive” protest on Monday, in the centre, another protest is set to take place, with personal image practitioners, such as hairdressers, beauticians, etc, will also take to the streets in protest.
The Business Alliance for the Lowering of IVA on personal image has called for a new protest on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the doors of the Congress of Deputies, in Madrid, to demand the restitution of its reduced IVA as essential service in the General State Budgets (PGE) of 2024.
This protest is a continuation of those that the personal image sector has been carrying out for four years to fight for this demand and with this, there are now more than 450 organised throughout Spain.
Professional sector representatives and small and medium-sized companies with a personal image from other parts of Spain will also attend this Madrid concentration.
The platform, which reveals that for 6 out of 10 (59.19%) entrepreneurs in the sector their situation is “bad or very bad”, has explained that this critical situation is reflected in the drop in turnover over the last 4 years, and means that “from 2020 to 2023 the personal image has lost 20.34% of its income.”
“The shrinking and autonomisation of the sector, which continues to grow, is already made up of 95.2% of self-employed workers and entrepreneurs,” stated the association, which says that Monday’s concentration is coordinated and organised by the Business Alliance for the IVA reduction, the personal image platform ‘Believe in us’ and the main national employers’ associations and regional associations in the sector – ANEIP, FANAE, ANEPE-IMPE, FEDCAT, and EIPEF -.
The concentration will show a map of the Spanish communities with the drop in turnover accumulated over the last 4 years and a staging of the “dramatic situation of the sector with professionals making their hair stand on end and work utensils in a coffin to reflect the dying situation of small and medium-sized businesses and the self-employed who will not be able to survive.
The platform has explained that with this action the personal image will demand from all political parties the inclusion of the restitution of the reduced IVA (10%) as an essential service in the General State Budgets of 2024.
