Teacher on trial for sexual assault
The Criminal Court 2 of Lleida is expected to hear evidence from today against a teacher accused of sexually abusing a former student who was a minor at the time in August 2020.
The Prosecutor’s Office requests a sentence of two and a half years in prison and the for the teacher following a complaint in 2020 to the Catalan Police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, who were presented with WhatsApp conversations between the victim and the teacher, who taught Philosophy at the Màrius Torres Institute.
According to the young woman’s complaint, the teacher summoned her to deliver some books and, under the pretext of giving her a massage, he allegedly groped her breasts. The teenager left the house very nervous, according to the complaint.
The Prosecutor’s Office considers that the teacher, “guided by the desire to satisfy his sexual instincts,” touched her several times.
The Public Ministry, in addition to the two and a half years in prison, requests the disqualification of the accused from any profession or activity that involves regular contact with minors during the sentence. Likewise, he requests that he be placed on probation for five years and compensate the victim with 3,000 euro for the moral damages caused.
During the investigation, a 35-year-old woman reported to the Mossos d’Esquadra that she had suffered a similar incident with the accused when she was 18 years old, although that incident has not been included in the case.
