The Guardia Civil, within the framework of operation THUNNUS, has dismantled a criminal group dedicated to the theft of trucks transporting merchandise, to later sell them. In the operation, two people have been arrested and three home searches have been carried out in the Autonomous Community of Madrid.

The operation began in October, after the Guardia Civil learned of the thefts of three articulated vehicles and two tractor units in rest areas and industrial estates in the province of Ourense.

Continuing with the investigations, the agents were able to verify that the detainees took control of the tractor units and hooked them to semi-trailers that were loaded with merchandise (canned goods, drinks, jellybeans, garden furniture), to transport them to a warehouse they had rented in the Community. from Madrid, where after letting time pass, they sold the merchandise, and later abandoned the vehicles.

The detainees are charged with the alleged crimes of continued robbery and membership in a criminal group.

During the entry and search practice, the Guardia Civil has seized nine mobile phones, fifteen SIM card holders, a frequency jammer (12 antennas), various clothing and tools related to criminal offences.

The operation that remains open has been developed by the Organic Judicial Police Unit of the Guardia Civil Command of Ourense and directed by the Investigative Court number 1 of Ourense.
