The local government of the Mijas Town Hall has made a public calling to the different urbanisations of the municipality to eliminate the speed bumps and elevated zebra crossings used by the public, but that are private and do not comply with the rules and regulations contemplated in the Order 3053/2008 of the Ministry of Public Works.
What most worries the local government is the security in the different streets and roads in the municipality, where many of these speed bumps and elevated zebra crossing do not comply with the law and in many cases are a risk for the security of both drivers and pedestrians.
In the last few weeks the Operative Services of the Town Hall have removed over 50 in different points of the municipality, especially in the Las Lagunas area, and to the day of today two are being removed in La Cala of Mijas Costa.
Nevertheless the Town Hall workers will not be able to take action in all the streets of the municipality, as it depends who the road belongs to. These cases take place mostly in the urbanisations. And for this reason the Town Hall has asked the communities of property owners to collaborate in removing the illegal bumps.
