The Maestro Padilla Auditorium in the capital hosted the inauguration

The hymns of Spain and Andalusia rang out at the Auditorio Maestro Padilla of the capital to celebrate the opening ceremony of the Ibero Municipalism Weekwhich is being held in the Exhibition and Congress Center of El Toyo. The congress will centre around a week of Ibero-American Municipalism with the slogan, ‘Good Governance and Local Democracy quality.’

The conference brought together 680 provincial and local government officials, academics, public administrators, businessmen and representatives of international institutions and organizations from 20 Latin American countries together with and about 70 national and international institutions. They were gathered to present their achievements and results in the consolidation of democracy, decentralization and local development.

The event, which was also attended by the President of the Provincial Council and the Mayor , Luis Rogelio Rodríguez-Commander, who explained that the initiative had the fundamental objective of “promoting fruitful dialogue, cooperation and exchange of ideas, analyzing the quality of governance and contrasting experiences during a period of particular difficulty like the present, in which the effects of the global financial and economic crisis are producing a crisis of public confidence in the institutions. “

This is the largest meeting of it’s kind in the world as part of which there will also be the 10th Latin American Congress of Ibero-American Fair Products and Municipal Services, the International Seminar on Legal Aspects of Urban Economics for sustainable development of cities and the International Seminar on Globalization and Municipality: two new areas of public health thinking.

The opening ceremony was carried out jointly by Jaime Parrondo, CEO Skills Coordination, Ministry of Finance and Public Administration, the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Jose Luis Perez, the President of the Ibero-American Municipal Union, Gerardo Amaral; Salvador Ordoñez, President of the International University Menéndez Pelayo, Paula Ravanelli, special advisor to the President of the Republic of Brazil, Secretary of the UIM, Federico Castillo, the President of the Provincial de Almería, Gabriel Amat, and the mayor of the city of Almería, Luis Rogelio Rodríguez-Commander, who also provided the closing speech at the closing ceremony.
