The National Energy Commission (CNE) has launched an investigation into petrol stations across Spain, after suspicions were raised that they had been reducing the price of fuel on a Monday, so as figures collated by the European Union´s assessors made the cost of fuel appear cheaper in Spain than it was. The initial investigation has revealed that 70% of petrol stations dropped prices for a Monday, only to increase them again on a Tuesday.
The sale of homes in January rose 18.9%, to 39,670 transactions, according to data released this week by the National Statistics Institute. New home sales rose 13.5%, to 20,223 units, while that of resales rose 25.1% to 19,447 operations.
Vodafone and Orange announced a joint venture on Wednesday for the deployment of fibre optic cable laying across Spain, with Orange alone intending an investment of 300 million euro over the next four years, with the aim to bring high speed internet connections to 1.5 million homes and businesses in Spanish cities.
