Faced with the possibility of a censure motion by the opposition group, the Mayor of Orihuela, Monserrate Guillén, has appeared before the press to say that the PP “can do whatever they want”, warning that the signatures of the two councillors no assigned are invalid, and the move is subsequently irrelevant.
“Let us not forget that the PP does not have all the votes, it takes 13 and needs the support of other councillors”, Guillén continued, confirming that neither Asunción Mayoral nor Bob Houliston can sign the censure motion as they are “not attached”.
At best that leaves a total of 12 votes from the PP, assuming they resolve their differences to convince their group to stand together. They would then need one more vote, which is unlikely to come from any of the other councillors.
However, even with the cloud of discussion hanging over the government, Guillén stressed that his government team arte “still working, which is our biggest concern right now”.
