Following the administrative relegation of Real Murcia from Segunda A to Segunda B the season long loan of Elche’s English defender Charlie I’Anson, agreed only last month, has been cancelled.

As the club already has it’s reserve team playing at that level (Elche Illicitano) they feel that the player would get no benefit from the move to Murcia so in an effort to ensure that he is able to gain experience in Segunda A his loan has been diverted to the Madrid club AD Alcorcon.

I’Anson, who joined Elche from Grimsby Town, is seen as a future first team regular at the club, hence their eagerness to place him in senior football. Last season he played just two games in La Liga, against RCD Espanyol and Granada.

At Alcorcon he will join up with former Elche defender Hector Verdes and former manager José Bordalás.

Meanwhile the unanimous decision by the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional’s to relegate Real Murcia came as no real surprise. Murcia were warned that the relegation was likely some weeks ago following the club’s inability to come to an agreement with the National Treasury, over repayment of tax debts of approximately 12 million euro. A spokesman for the league says that the club are unable to show themselves financially solvent so are therefore unable to compete at that level.

In addition to relegation Real Murcia have also received a €180,303.63 fine due to their financial situation.

But Real Murcia’s woes have gifted CD Mirandes reinstatement to Segunda A as the club that finished with the best points tally in the relegation zone at the end of the 2013/14 season.
