The Minister of the Interior, Jorge Fernández Díaz, will today preside over the ceremony commemorating the 171st anniversary of the founding of the Guardia Civil.
The ceremony will take place at the “Duque de Ahumada” Guardia Civil training college in Valdemoro, Madrid, commencing at noon.
During the ceremony, Jorge Fernández Díaz will be joined by the director general of the Guardia Civil Guard, Arsenio Fernández de Mesa, along with other civil and military authorities.
The aim of this celebration is to renew the commitment to serve by the Guardia Civil Guard, the endorsement of the validity of the values and principles on which the institution is set and the recognition and appreciation of those members of the corps who have served the public since its creation on the 28th of March, 1844.
