Former Torrevieja Mayor Facing Further Criminal Charges
The Courts in Torrevieja have opened another case against the former PP Mayor of the city, Pedro Hernández Mateo, accused of offences “against civil rights” for failing to hold regular plenary sessions during the 2003 to 2007 municipal mandate.
The complaint was filed by the Los Verdes in 2006, but was initially dismissed when the case was brought for crimes of “trespass”, but with an appeal launched, the court has decreed that there is a case to answer to under Article 542 of the Penal Code.
Hernández Mateo is currently in prison serving a sentence in a different corruption case.
