AENA, who also run Alicante-Elche airport, are said to have put in an expression of interest in the first stage of the Corvera tendering process, with AENA said to be keeping its powder dry over any closure of San Javier, with no specific dates mentioned in the bid.

The formal tender to run Corvera was published by the regional government on March 25^th, with prospective bidders given until the end of April to say they are interested in tendering for the 25-year franchise, which would then be followed by a 60-day period for the bidders to present their detailed plans. So far, only AENA has made an open declaration of interest.
