A vehicle travelling in the wrong way along the AP-9 motorway near the Pontevedra town of Vilaboa on Saturday morning collided with another car resulting in three people being injured.

According to the 112 emergency coordination centre, the incident occurred at 09:54 on Saturday morning at kilometre 134,600, in the Crecente direction.

After receiving the alert, the Guardia Civil were immediately despatched from Pontevedra, along with emergency medical teams.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 74-year-old driver, who was driving in the Vigo direction, had stopped off at a rest area. However, when resuming the journey, the driver joined the AP-9 in the opposite direction, the Pontevedra direction, and ended up colliding with another vehicle.

Three people suffered minor injuries in the crash, the 74-year-old driver two people who were in the other car.
