El colegio de Hurchillo paid tribute to local grandparents last week who help with the education of their grandchildren.
Children were asked to bring their grandparents into school where tributes were paid at a general assembly in recognition of the assistance they provide with the education and the upbringing of their grandchildren.
Always on the last Friday in May, similar tributes have been held at the school for the last 25 years. The evening event included poetry readings, plays and songs dedicated to the grandparents who help with the education of the ‘new generations’, be it with homework, packing lunches or simply accompanying their grandchildren to and from school.
The event was named the Super Grandfather school was Antonio Espinosa Guillen and Superabuela, Lola Torah Vergara. The school management said yesterday that this “is one of the most emotional events conducted by the center, which wants to record the gratitude that the school has all the grandparents’.
The Super Grandfather was named as Antonio Espinosa Guillen while Lola Torah Vergara was awarded with the super grandmother prize.
The school headmaster said that ‘this is one of the most emotional events conducted by the center, which feels it is extremely important to acknowledge and to record the gratitude that the school has to all the grandparents’.
