The Court of Alicante will begin to hear evidence today, Tuesday, against a man who is accused of trying to kill a couple to whom he had subleased the room of an apartment in which he lived in San Vicente del Raspeig.
The defendant faces nine years and five months in prison for crimes of attempted murder.
The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the accused and the victims, who had confrontations prior to the events, were in the house on May 9, 2018 when the accused began to insult them and the couple locked themselves in their room.
The defendant banged on the door until he managed to open it, struggled with the man and wounded him on the forehead and one arm.
Shortly after, at dawn, the defendant placed a butane cylinder on the door of the room and released its contents by projecting it under the door with the intention of causing an explosion.
The potentially explosive act failed because the couple opened a window in the room and called the Police.
When the man was arrested, he maintained a violent attitude with the agents and even attacked one of the Guardia Civil officers.
The oral hearing will be held in the tenth section of the Provincial Court of Alicante.
