The Guardia Civil has arrested a businessman as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against privacy, by monitoring a worker who was on medical leave with a GPS.
The investigation began in Mairena del Aljarafe (Seville), after a complaint filed by a citizen who stated that he had found a GPS locator hidden in the underbody of his private vehicle.
The complainant discovered it by chance when he observed damage to his vehicle while he was washing it, noticing the illegal placement of a GPS locator that was handed over to the investigating agents.
During the investigation, the agents established a link between the events, managing to identify the alleged perpetrator, who turned out to be the complainant’s boss, with whom he had a labour dispute.
The businessman has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against privacy, who is also charged with crimes of document falsification, damages and fraud.
The accusation of these crimes is due to having fraudulently obtained and used a SIM card in the name of a company in the province of Zaragoza that had no relationship with those involved and that suffered bank charges that they had not realised, derived from the use of the mobile line.
The proceedings carried out and the detainee have been placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court No. 8 of Seville.
