The Sindicato Nacional de Controladores Aéreos (SNCTA), the union representing the majority of French air traffic controllers, has called a strike on September 15 to demand salary improvements, as reported in a statement, the result likely to be significant disruption across the entire European flight network.
The strike will coincide with the celebration of the Rugby World Cup in French territory, which will take place throughout the month of September, so it will affect international operations due to the arrival of foreigners.
Among its requests, the union demands a salary equalisation with inflation and the creation of an annual instance of social dialogue, independent of any productivity agreement.
“The SNCTA cannot accept that the work of air traffic controllers and the public air navigation service is devalued year after year,” they denounced in the statement.
Finally, the SNCTA invites all unions that share these concerns to join this movement, on which there is consensus.
