Laboratory with more than 600 kilos of speed was dismantled

The Guardia Civil, within the framework of operation Pecueco, has dismantled a laboratory with more than 600 kilograms of speed in San Sebastián and has arrested eight people between 35 and 58 years old in Navarra, Guipúzcoa, León and Madrid who are already in prison.

The operation concluded with the seizure of nearly 800 kilograms of speed, eight of MDMA, more than 180,000 euro in cash, a gas-powered revolver, 11 passenger cars and a truck.

The investigation began in June last year when a 42-year-old man from Bilbao was arrested who was transporting 40 kilograms of speed in his car. The agents proceeded to locate several points where exchanges of narcotic substances took place, which allowed them to intercept a truck with 42 kilograms of speed in Berrioplano (Navarra) and, a few days later, another vehicle with the same amount in Zarautz (Guipúzcoa).

Likewise, investigators located on the outskirts of San Sebastián the laboratory where the drug was manufactured, packaged and distributed throughout the national territory. A laboratory that had strong security measures.

In total, more than 600 kilos of speed were seized at these facilities, as well as precursor substances such as 75 kilograms of caffeine, 88 litres of liquid amphetamine and 800 litres of various acids and alcohols.

In this first phase, the “cook” and another man who also collaborated in the preparation of the drug were arrested after simultaneous searches in the laboratory and in their respective homes.

After that, the agents focused the investigation on locating the rest of the members of the organisation who worked as transporters who were finally arrested and imprisoned.
