According to the Spanish meteorological association, Aemet, the national average value of accumulated rainfall from the beginning of the hydrological year (October 1, 2023) until June 25 is estimated at 572 l/m2, which is 4% more than the normal value corresponding to said period (549 l /m2), which is a welcome addition although reservoir amounts are continuing to decline.

Precipitation exceeds normal values in the western and interior half of the peninsula, the Basque Country and Navarra and the western half of the Pyrenees along with the north of Aragon, except for a strip that runs through Asturias and Cantabria and the southern and eastern halves of Andalusia.

On the other hand, the accumulated quantities are below their normal values in the eastern third together, in the areas mentioned above and the two archipelagos.

Especially low values are recorded in the eastern part of the peninsula that goes from Almería to the Ebro delta.
