Former mayor of Orihuela, Mónica Lorente, has accused the education department of the town hall of promoting the company who would run last year´s summer school, before awarding the contract for work to them.
Lorente has been facing criticism herself for a case that could result in a criminal conviction for allegedly awarding work to a company before it was put to public tender, so it is not surprising that any evidence of wrong doing would be highlighted.
Lorente also claims that the company involved is run by the daughter of one of the town hall operatives, and not only was the announcement made prior to the contract being signed, the town hall had already started to recruit children into the scheme.
If true, the allegations would prove extremely serious for the councillor for education, Rosa Martínez, but in answering to the allegations in defence of the actions, Martínez simply responded that Lorente does not “know the facts”.
