STAFF SHORTAGES AT SAN MIGUEL MEDICAL HEALTH CENTER

The San Miguel Residents Association, “San Miguel Archangel”, has once again expressed it’s displeasure at the lack of key medical staff employed in the local health centre. This time their anger is aimed at a further reduction in the number of doctors at working at the centre.

The Association claims that each doctor now supports upwards of 3,300 patients, specifically since the number of practitioners was reduced from 4 to 3 four months ago. Without any notice of or explanation for the reduction they say the figure that each doctor is now sustaining is more than double that of the national average.

But it would seem that the importance of the situation is lost on the Councillor for Health who continues to ignore the Association’s appeal. As such “San Miguel Archangel” has now gone over his head and written directly to the mayor.

In their letter they say that they have lost confidence in the councilor who they feel is doing nothing toward justifying his enormous salary. A spokesman said that as he is not prepared to talk with the Association at this time there can be no justification in paying his monthly salary.
